Once again following the Prime Minister briefing at 8pm tonight we have been instructed to CLOSE school for pupils other than those who are:
1. Children of keyworkers
2. SEND (pupils with Special Needs)
3. Vulnerable pupils
The directive tonight was to be working remotely until February half term.(Monday 22nd February) In order for us to move to this we need to have an emergency full closure tomorrow and Wednesday , we will aim to open to keyworker and vulnerable pupils on Thursday. This will allow us to prepare fully and identify which children will be able to receive the limited face to face teaching we will be able to offer.
We also aim to move to remote teaching on Wednesday, this will in the first instance be checking parents can log in and join the meetings. You will receive further guidance tomorrow regarding this, please bear with us. Our aim is that each class will offer 2 timetabled remote sessions of 30 minutes per day, with other work to complete online.
May I reassure you the Leadership Team and myself had already planned the way forward for our families as we do understand the challenges remote learning poses for some families. The staff have been instructed to provide you with a range of paper based resources to be used alongside the remote direct teaching we will do via our google classroom.
Our booking system for keyworker children is now on our school website under the 'contact us' section. I would ask you to email me as a matter of urgency your need for a place as a keyworker. In addition provision for SEND pupils is also a priority, Mrs Cleaver will contact you tomorrow. Our vulnerable group of pupils can be for a number of confidential reasons, staff will be identifying those pupils and you will be contacted in due course. Our school is in many ways unique and I appreciate home learning is very difficult for instance if you are new to English, I therefore am considering a vulnerable group of pupils who fall into this category, again if you wish to highlight your need for a place there is a form on the website or email me with your concerns to be considered under this group.. These places will be extremely limited.
We are also trying to clarify the position on school nursery , as it is unclear what we are being asked to do in this area. The Prime Minister suggested Early Years settings should remain open, we will clarify this and inform you as soon as this is given. In the meantime Nursery is also closed.
These are unprecedented times and it may take a day or two for us to get things running smoothly, but we will do our best as always to support the Palfrey Community. If you have any questions please use the firstname.lastname@example.org email. If it is a class based query please email your child's teacher directly as they are best served to help with those questions.
This is a fast changing situation and I urge you to log on to the google classroom in readiness for Wednesday, passwords were emailed out earlier today. Also Rising Stars reading is already loaded with new reading material for your children for tomorrow.
May I remind you this is a directive for remote learning not an extended holiday, therefore we will need to be logging which pupils are accessing the live lessons each day as a daily register.
Please check your emails regularly as this is the way I will communicate with you. Thank you for your continued support and resilience in these very challenging times. We appreciate the difficulty that last minute changes can make for families and will try to help in any way we can.
