School Uniform

School Uniform Policy

 

All children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are asked to wear a Palfrey Infants' School uniform. We would like all our children to have a school uniform to give a sense of community and belonging. This does NOT have to carry the school logo.

 

If you need assistance with the cost of uniform, please speak to Mrs Walsh/ Mrs Adams in confidence. We can then look to provide some second hand uniform if available. This will always be of a good quality.

 

Your local supermarkets sell great versions of the polo shirt, skirt, joggers,  trousers, shorts, summer dresses at a cheaper cost than logo versions and are  ready for the mud kitchen and the painting area!

The uniform comprises:

 

  • Navy blue sweatshirt with/ without logo
  • Navy Cardigan
  • Red polo shirt
  • Navy/ Black/ Grey trousers/ leggings or skirt. (Note recommended  joggers in Nursery)
  • Red or Blue summer dresses
  • Sensible black shoes (Velcro not laces)
  •  

PE kit Children should come dressed for PE on their PE day

  • White or Red T shirt
  • Black Leggings /Joggers or shorts
  • School sweatshirt
  • Black pull on Pumps/ Trainers (Velcro no laces)
  •  

Children should come to school in PE kit on their allotted PE days but in outdoor shoes.  PE pumps / trainers  to be kept in school in a PE bag.

 

School provide a PE bag.

 

Jewellery

 

Health & Safety risk assessments highlight the dangers involved in children wearing jewellery in school, particularly during PE and at break time and lunchtime. 

 

We therefore discourage jewellery in school and request parents not to send your child to school with jewellery.

 

Please ensure ALL jewellery is removed on PE days. School will not be liable for injuries caused

 

Hairstyles 

It is recommended Pupils with long hair must ensure that this is tied up at all times.

 

School bag 

The school will provide each child with a named Blue Bag on their first day with us. 

 

Makeup and Nail Varnish

No makeup or nail varnish should be worn. (Unless for religious ceremonies & special occasions)

 

Adverse weather 

All pupils are required to wear weather-appropriate clothing such as a warm waterproof coat in winter, and a sun hat in the summer. Gloves, scarves, wellington boots etc. can be worn and removed in the classroom.

 

Labelling 

All pupils’ clothing and footwear is clearly labelled with their name, including socks, shoes and accessories.

Any unnamed lost property is taken to the lost property box in the year group base . Named items are returned to children.

 

Second Hand Uniform

We have set up a previously loved uniform drop off in school for parents to donate uniform of a good quality that children have grown out of. These are available for parents to help themselves to just ask the admin staff to signpost you to the uniform. All donations are gratefully received.
